Quality you can expect

Tracks are delivered as MP3 encoded from the stream SoundCloud serves. SoundCloud transcodes on upload, so the ceiling is set by their encoding rather than by the artist's master.

What doesn't work

Stated plainly, because finding out after three failed attempts is worse.

• Tracks the artist has marked private or made available only to followers cannot be fetched.
• Playlists and full artist pages are not supported — link a single track.
• Some tracks are geo-restricted by the rights holder and will fail.
• Tracks removed for copyright fail even when the page still loads.

There is no video mode here

SoundCloud hosts audio, so this page defaults to MP3 and hides the video toggle entirely. Sending a SoundCloud link through a video-mode downloader returns an error, which is a common and confusing failure elsewhere.

If you specifically want the waveform or artwork, those are images on the track page rather than part of the audio file, and are not included in the download.

Supporting artists

SoundCloud is where a great deal of music appears first, often from artists with no label behind them. Many enable an official free download button on their own tracks — if that button is there, use it. It counts toward their stats and it is what they asked you to do.

This tool exists for the cases that button does not cover, such as archiving your own uploads or saving a DJ set for offline listening. It does not exist to route around artists who chose not to offer downloads.
