Videos download at the resolution Streamable encoded, which is stamped into the filename — 852x480 in the example above. Streamable re-encodes uploads and free-tier videos are capped well below source quality.
What doesn't work
Stated plainly, because finding out after three failed attempts is worse.
- Streamable deletes videos on free accounts after a period of inactivity; expired links cannot be recovered by any tool.
- Password-protected videos cannot be fetched.
- Videos removed by the uploader or for a copyright claim fail even if you still have the link.
Streamable links expire, which is the point of downloading them
Streamable is built for temporary sharing, and videos uploaded on free accounts are removed after a period without views. A link someone sent you last year has a good chance of being dead already, and there is no archive to recover it from.
That makes Streamable one of the few platforms here where downloading is straightforwardly the sensible thing to do: if the clip matters to you, the copy in your hands is the only one that will still exist next year.
The resolution is in the filename
Streamable downloads arrive with dimensions appended, so you can tell at a glance whether you got 852×480 or 1920×1080 without opening the file. Streamable's own encoding is the ceiling — a 4K upload to a free account does not come back as 4K.
If the resolution looks lower than what you remember watching, that is Streamable's transcode rather than anything lost in the download.

Can I recover an expired Streamable link? +
No. Once Streamable deletes a video, it is gone from their servers and no downloader can retrieve it. This is why saving clips you care about early matters.
Why is the resolution lower than expected? +
Streamable re-encodes uploads, and free-tier videos are capped. The download matches what Streamable stored, not what was originally uploaded.
Do password-protected videos work? +
No. Password-protected videos require the password to be entered in a session this tool does not have.
