Can You Download a Whole Instagram Carousel?
Yes, but not as one file. A carousel is several separate photos and videos behind a single URL, so a downloader returns them as items you pick from. What each slide type gives you, and why the sites promising a one-click zip are building it themselves.
Yes, but not as a single file. An Instagram carousel is several separate photos and videos stored behind one URL, so a downloader hands them back as items you choose from rather than one bundle. Public posts only: a carousel on a private account cannot be fetched by any tool that does not hold an Instagram login.
One link, several files
Instagram keeps every slide as its own file. The URL you copy, instagram.com/p/SHORTCODE/, points at the post, not at any one photo in it. Paste that into the Instagram downloader and what comes back is the media the post contains: photo slides as images, and a video slide as one of the items you can select. There is no archive at the other end because Instagram never assembled one.
What each slide gives you
| What is in the slide | What comes back |
|---|---|
| Photo | The image as Instagram stores it, one item at a time |
| Video | An MP4, listed alongside the photos as a selectable item |
| Mixed carousel | Both kinds in the same list, saved one by one |
| Private account or deleted post | Nothing, and the honest tools say so |
Resolution is whatever Instagram serves its web player, usually 1080 across for a portrait slide. Instagram re-encodes on upload, so what you save reflects Instagram’s compression rather than the creator’s export.
Why the one-click promises rarely hold
Sites advertising a whole carousel in one click are doing the bundling themselves: fetching each file, zipping it on their server, then handing you the archive. Your link and every image in the post pass through a machine you know nothing about, and the result lands in a shared Downloads folder. Are free video downloader sites safe? covers what that trade actually costs.
A TikTok photo post is the harder case, not this one. There, no video file exists at all and any MP4 you are offered has been rendered from stills (can you download a TikTok slideshow?). A carousel is more straightforward: the files are real and already separate.
Save what you have the right to save. Your own posts, content a creator has agreed to share, a public post kept for personal offline use. Instagram’s terms still apply to you, and none of this reaches Stories, private accounts, or anything else behind a login.
Where the files end up on an iPhone
- Through the website, each item downloads in Safari and lands in Files. Move them into the vault afterwards and delete the copies left behind.
- Through the app, Save from Link takes one video per link. It is a video feature, so carousel photos are the website’s job.
- Anything inside the vault is encrypted on the phone with AES-256-GCM, under a key derived from your PIN with Argon2id. No account, no hosted copy of the vault, nothing in the Camera Roll.
- The limits are the ordinary ones. Forget the PIN and nothing is recoverable, and an unlocked vault handed to someone is not protected by any of this.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download an entire Instagram carousel in one click? +
Not as one bundle. The post's media comes back as a list and you save the items one at a time. A site that hands you a zip built that zip on its own server after fetching each file.
Can I download a carousel from a private account? +
No. If the post is not visible to a logged-out visitor, no downloader can reach it. Following the account does not change that, because the tool has no access to your session.
Does Arca's app save carousel photos into the vault? +
Save from Link handles video, one video per link. Carousel photos come through the website and land in Files, and you add them to the vault from there.

Can You Download a TikTok Slideshow?
Not as a video, because there isn't one. A TikTok slideshow is a set of photos and a sound, played by the app. What the sites that hand you an MP4 are really doing, what Arca's TikTok tools return, and the two routes that actually work.

Which Link Should You Copy to Download a Video?
Whatever the Share menu hands you, tracking tail and all. The links that fail are failing for a different reason: they point at a playlist, a profile, or something behind a login. Here is the shape each platform expects.

Why Video Downloader Sites Keep Disappearing
Rarely for one reason. Platforms change how video is delivered, the servers these tools run on get blocked by the hosts they fetch from, and the domains rotate faster than search results update. Here is what actually breaks, and why the name you remember is the riskiest part.
