Why Some Videos Never Download, No Matter the Tool
Most download failures are the same failure wearing different clothes: the video needs someone to be logged in. Here are the three classes of failure, and which of them a tool can legitimately fix.
Most failures are one failure in different clothing: the video needs somebody to be signed in. Age-gated, private, protected, followers-only, friends-only. They all reduce to the same condition. The rest divide into content that no longer exists, and content fenced by region or DRM.
The big one: it needs a login
Look at what actually fails across services and the list stops looking like nine problems.
Age-restricted videos need a signed-in account. Private and unlisted posts need one. Protected accounts, private groups, followers-only tracks, Stories and Highlights, posts with logged-out visibility turned off: all the same requirement. Some platforms go further and serve parts of their media API only to authenticated sessions, so even a genuinely public post can fail depending on which endpoint it lives behind.
A tool that holds no accounts and stores no cookies cannot reach any of it. That is not a gap waiting to be closed. It is what having no account means.

The middle row catches people out because the link still looks fine. A URL is not a promise that anything sits behind it. We went further into that in what happens to a saved video when the original is deleted.
What a failure is actually telling you
The useful question is not “which tool works” but “is this post public to a signed-out visitor”. Open the link in a private browsing window. If you cannot see it there, no accountless tool will fetch it, and the ones claiming otherwise are worth a second look — reaching private content means logging in as somebody, which is a very different thing to hand your link to. Usually it is not the platform, it is the post. A public post that anyone can open while signed out is fetchable. A post that needs an account to view — private, protected, followers-only, age-gated — is not, on any platform. The pattern holds across every service, which is why the same tool can succeed and fail on the same site.
Can a downloader get a video from a private account? +
Not one that holds no accounts. Reaching private content requires being logged in as somebody who has access, which means a tool that manages credentials on your behalf. That is a meaningfully different product with a meaningfully different risk profile, and it is not what Arca does.
The link worked yesterday and fails today — why? +
The post most likely changed state or disappeared. Uploaders delete posts, accounts flip to private, copyright claims remove videos, and some hosts expire files on inactive free accounts. When the underlying record is gone, no tool recovers it, because there is nothing left to fetch.
